The History of Mirleft

Mirleft’s history is tied to Morocco’s colonial past, when the country was divided between French and Spanish rule. The village, part of the French zone, sits just 2 km north of Marabout Beach, which marked the border with the Spanish zone. Mirleft’s strategic location made it an important outpost. However, it was the famous musician Jimi Hendrix who helped put Mirleft on the map as a tourist destination. His fascination with the town slowly turned this once-quiet village into a charming coastal getaway.
